AKIRA Graphitti Designs COMPLETE SET includes Vols. 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
Complete set of Graphitti's Limited Edition Akira. All volumes in Very Good / Very Good condition.
Some wear & rubbing to dust jackets but colors otherwise strong & unfaded. Colored buckrum bindings are tight & clean. Each volume limited to 1,500 copies, hand numbered.
Marvel and Graphitti had a co-publishing arrangement with the printer to print the interiors for the trade and the hardcover at the same time. After volume 5, Marvel had to wait several years for Otomo to finish the series. Marvel (and Graphitti) stopped collecting the material after #30.
Instead of stepping up to the plate and paying for a small run themselves in order to complete the project, Graphitti just bailed on publishing altogether and has instead switched over to doing licenses t-shirts and such.
